The 2006 Scion xB or more commonly known as a toaster. Notice the defined lines and boxy shape.
This is the 2008 Scion xB model. It's all rounded off and disgusting.
The change has affected nearly every car, truck, mini-van, mini and van on the market.
A Mazda CX-7. Gross.
The terrifying Buick Enclave.
Many people seem to approve of this odd shift in the market and sometimes I feel like I am the black sheep because, for the most part, I think these cars look like total crap. What makes things worse is when a reputable car company tries to jump on board and produces something truly awful. I am, of course, talking about the new BMW X6. This crossover is just about the worst attempt at the "modern style" bastardization of a new genre of cars.
Now immediately many of you have told yourselves, "Chad! That is an awesome looking car and you are wrong!"
My response to you is this: "Well to each their own but you are just a fan boy and that car looks like my 10 minute meet up with the toilet last night."
BMW is great at what they do. Producing killer sports car with great designs and a performance to match is their creed that they live and die by. Their newest 3 series coupes are- quite frankly- sex on wheels. BMW has a great track record and it is a shame to see is spoiled with a creation like this. The X6 is the shining example of selling out and jumping on a bandwagon that suites 55 year old women with too much money and shopping time who thinks that a Buick Towncar is the high point of luxury.
The saddest part is that BMW should know better! Their attempt at an earlier crossover, the X3, was a joke. BBC hit show Top Gear said something to the effect that it's like it wants to be a large estate car and a capable off-roader at the same time and that it hasn't struck that balance at all.
Now we reach the end of this post where many of you have taken me out of your phonebooks on your mobiles and deleted me as an eFriend on Facebook so I have no shame in finalizing with my total biased opinion: anyone who like this car is most likely a BMW fan boy. Just like Mac fan boys or Dave Mathews Band fan boys or any fan boys at that, a person who loves BMW so much cannot see what a gross car this really is underneath all the Crossover+NewBodyStyles= God's Car hype.

That is the first time I have seen that new Bimmer, and I must say I'm not impressed. I like the previous M3s better than the new ones as well. They look meaner I think.
Which one would I rather have? Well that's another question because of the performance gains on the new one (M3 that is, not the poop-over).
Probably the first of your posts that I couldn't disagree with more. That car is gorgeous, and it does not conform to any traditional (or more contemporary) form. It never hits the bulbous SUV setup that I think every one of us (excepting, of course, grandma) hates--it's more like they took a coupe and gave it a lift and an extra door.
If I can take my coupe offroading, then I can do what our good friend Chris cannot. And at the top of the mountain, I will look down on your normal sedans and salute them in feigned respect as I relish my superiority.
I totally know what you mean, and I agree with you completely. It makes me sick to have to look at this and try do decipher whether it's a car, a truck or a very expensive practical joke.
